The Ata Rangi Crimson Pinot Noir 2014 reflects this more relaxed harvest with its enticing nose, a medley of bright red fruits, cranberry, rose hip, loganberry and a note of spicy red liquorice. The palate is divinely silky with tannins that are velvety and long. Already this wine shows great balance and seductiveness, the hallmark of 2014.

Winery & Vintage Info

Ata Rangi, meaning "dawn sky" or "new beginning" is a small New Zealand winery with a big reputation for serious Pinot Noir.

Crimson is sourced primarily from 10 to 20 year old vines, compared to 30 years plus for our oldest pinot vines. Generally speaking these recent plantings express the more aromatic spectrum of the Martinborough Terrace fruit.
It is made in a style intended for enjoying within a few years of the vintage, with all the same care and attention as is given to the main label Ata Rangi Pinot Noir.

Every season leaves an imprint on the wine, and Crimson Pinot Noir 2014 is a very true reflection of the year’s conditions. The spring of 2013 was unusually settled. Mercifully missing were the cold southerly winds often experienced in the Wairarapa, the benign weather delivering flowering conditions that normally reside in a winemaker’s dreams.

Overall, the growing season was mild with rain at regular intervals resulting in well-formed bunches and healthy canopies coming into the summer months. Winery Notes
