The 2019 vintage Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc from 3 Tales is a very pale yellow-gold colour, with bright green highlights. Vivid, lifted perfumes offer up yellow grapefruit and lime with crisp snow pea and wild fennel greens. The palate is richly-flavoured, smoothly-textured with bold flavours of yellow citrus and dried provincial herbs while fine, ripe acids and powdery tannins ensure a refreshingly long, clean finish.

Winery & Vintage Info

A great cross-Tasman tale of two winemaking families, one from New Zealand, one from Australia, united by the desire to make a distinctive Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. Experience the passion behind this wine for yourself to tell your own tale.

100% Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough New Zealand. Vertical shoot positioned, cane pruned vines planted at a density of 2525 plants per hectare. The vineyard soil originates from an ancient riverbed and comprises of free-draining, stony silts with silt loam topsoil.

From bud burst, early season weather conditions were favourable for early vine development, with good levels of warmth, sunshine and surprisingly little wind. This was to continue till the onset of flowering when untimely rain delayed the start of flowering and caused some reduction in potential yields. The key ripening months of summer returned to favourable conditions, however, while the grape intake period was defined by a series of three cyclones that brought bouts of high winds and heavy rain. Harvester and winery ownership combined with quality viticulture meant that the negative effects of these cyclones were greatly mitigated in producing the finished wines.

Once harvested, individual blocks of Sauvignon fruit were gently pressed to minimise the negative effects of skin contact. The resulting juices were fermented in temperature-controlled tanks with select yeast strains, chosen for their ability to enhance the varietal intensity and mouthfeel of Sauvignon Blanc.
